Tyghe & Mandy’s Colourful Summer Wedding at Mapperley Farm

If there was ever a wedding that proved rustic absolutely does not have to mean beige, it was Tyghe and Mandy’s.

Their Mapperley Farm wedding was packed with colour from beginning to end. Pastel ribbons, colourful flowers, warm brick, fairy lights and plenty of personality made the whole day feel relaxed, fun and completely their own.

An outdoor ceremony surrounded by woodland

Tyghe and Mandy chose to get married outside beneath the wooden arbour, surrounded by trees and all of their favourite people.

The ceremony styling tied everything together beautifully. Soft lilacs, blues, pinks and yellows ran through the flowers, while the natural wood of the arbour and the woodland behind them kept everything feeling relaxed rather than overly styled.

And, of course, there was the first kiss.

With everyone gathered around them, the flowers wrapped around the arbour and the sunlight coming through the trees behind them, it was one of those ceremony settings that already did most of the work for me.

Colour. Everywhere.

The colour carried straight through into their reception.

Rather than choosing one or two wedding colours and repeating them everywhere, Tyghe and Mandy leaned into a whole palette of pastels. Long ribbons were tied to the backs of the chairs in different colours, with little arrangements of flowers running along the tables between candles, glassware and soft fabric.

Against the exposed brick and wooden tables at Mapperley Farm, it looked incredible.

There was so much to photograph without the space ever feeling overly done. Every time you looked along the tables there was another little combination of colour, texture and light.

Even their cake kept things simple while still fitting the day perfectly, finished with soft pink and lilac flowers and a personalised Tyghe and Mandy topper.

A few minutes away from everyone

One of my favourite things about Mapperley Farm is having all that greenery right outside.

We headed into the trees for Tyghe and Mandy’s couple portraits, but kept things really simple. No disappearing for an hour and turning the wedding into a photoshoot.

Just the two of them, a little wander, a few portraits and plenty of them actually looking at each other rather than performing for the camera.

Mandy’s huge colourful bouquet looked SO good against the darker greens of the woodland too.

And then the evening happened…

The warm fairy lights completely changed the feel of the venue once the evening started.

This is usually the point in a wedding day where the neat tables disappear, jackets come off and things become significantly less civilised.

Exactly how I like it.

The headphones came out. The microphones came out. Tyghe and Mandy were both fully involved, and the evening photos very quickly became less about making anything look perfect and much more about catching whatever happened next.

To finish it all off, we headed outside for one of my favourite photographs from the day, with Tyghe and Mandy surrounded by fountains of sparks in the courtyard.

Bright, ridiculous, romantic and slightly dramatic.

Basically a pretty accurate summary of the whole wedding.

Planning your own Mapperley Farm wedding?

Tyghe and Mandy’s day is such a good example of how much you can make a venue your own.

They brought colour into absolutely everything, but it still worked beautifully with the rustic brick, woodland and natural surroundings rather than fighting against them.

And from a photography point of view, Mapperley Farm gives you a bit of everything. Woodland portraits, an outdoor ceremony, warm rustic interiors, fairy lights and a courtyard that looks pretty bloody good with a couple of spark fountains going off in it.

If you’re planning your own wedding at Mapperley Farm and want the polished bits, the ridiculous bits and everything happening in between photographed, you can get in touch with me to tell me what you’re planning.
