Katie and Joe’s barn style wedding at Dinton Pastures
Katie and Joe’s wedding at Dinton Pastures Country Park was one of those days that just felt easy from start to finish. The kind of wedding where everything flows naturally, everyone is fully present, and the moments unfold without needing to force anything.
From the very beginning, it was clear this day was going to be full of genuine emotion, laughter, and all of those little “in-between moments” I love so much as a documentary wedding photographer.

A calm and cosy morning getting ready
The morning started quietly, with Katie getting ready surrounded by her closest people, her best friend and her daughters. There’s something really special about this part of the day. It’s slower, more intimate, and full of anticipation.
One of my favourite moments was capturing the final touches of makeup being applied. Katie was completely in the moment, eyes closed, just taking it all in before everything began. These are the kinds of moments that might feel small at the time, but they hold so much meaning when you look back.

That just married feeling
After the ceremony, Katie and Joe walked back down the aisle together with the biggest smiles on their faces. That “we just did it” feeling, and the relief across their faces, is always one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph.
Everyone around them was cheering, clapping, and completely caught up in the moment. It was joyful, slightly chaotic in the best way, and exactly what a wedding exit should feel like.

Portraits in the spring sunshine
We stepped outside for a short couples session, making the most of the beautiful surroundings at Dinton Pastures. The light was incredible and Katie’s veil caught the breeze perfectly, which gave us some really natural movement without needing to over-direct anything.

This is always how I like to approach couples portraits. A little bit of guidance, but mostly letting you just be yourselves. Katie and Joe made that very easy. They were relaxed, happy, and completely wrapped up in each other. As you’ll know if you’ve been reading my wedding blog posts or if you’ve ever had me at yours or someone you knows day, I like to keep this segment short and sweet, getting your beautiful frame worthy portraits within 10-20 minutes.

A dance floor full of energy
As the evening came around, the energy shifted in the best way. Their first dance was such a lovely, intimate moment, but what really stood out was how quickly everyone joined them on the dance floor.
Guests were laughing, filming, cheering, and fully getting involved. It created such a fun, lively atmosphere and made for some brilliant candid moments.

Why I loved this wedding
Katie and Joe’s day is exactly why I love documentary wedding photography.
Nothing felt staged. Nothing felt forced. It was just real moments, real reactions, and a full story from start to finish.
From the quiet calm of the morning to the energy of the evening, every part of their day had something special to capture.
